Who is Your God?
Are You of His People?

This writing is not intended to be a complete telling of this topic, but with a thought to brevity, it should allow for good learning.
Probably no topic or issue can stand alone without consideration for information from other topics and issues.  Therefore, for better understanding of terms and concepts used herein, other papers should be read in conjunction with this paper and others.  One in particular for early reading is What is in a Name

This should be simple, but will probably still be lost on some people.

A look at Matthew 12:40 (en# 1) indicates that THE ONLY SIGN to identify Yahshua is the time he spends in the ground.

With this sign as the ONLY sign of Yahshua’s identity, then professed followers Yahshua would have to at the very least acknowledge the days of Yahshua’s death and rising.

Common, modern day, belief is that Yahshua died on a Friday (Good Friday) and rose from death on Sunday (read that as “SUN” day, not “SON” day).  The language of the story of Jonah and of Yahshua spending their time in the whale and the ground is “3 days and 3 nights” – a period of time right near 72 hours.  If the language had been ‘3 days and nights’ then the time could be shortened to several different combinations resulting in a little more than 48 hours.  But the prophesy of Jonah and the statement of Yahshua regarding his being in the ground 3 days and 3 nights is important because this timing identifies Yahshua and those who follow him would acknowledge and observe them.

Clearly 6 verses tell us that Yahshua rose on the “first day of the week” (Matthew 28:1,  Mark 16:2, Mark 16:9, Luke 24:1, John 20:1, John 20:19), so counting backwards from there will place his death on Wednesday.  See the article “First Day of the Week” for explanation of the topic of the first day of the week.  More explanation of the day of Yahshua’s death and rise are in the article “Easter, Passover & Sabbath”.  The purpose of this article is to help identify the true followers of Yahshua.

If a people claim their God (Messiah) died on day “X” and he really died on day “Z”, then are they knowing of their God (Messiah)?  IF a people claim their God (Messiah) was resurrected on day “A” and her really rose from the dead on day “C”, then are they knowing of their God (Messiah)?

If the single sign given to identify Yahshua is the days he died, was in the ground and rose, then his followers would surely at least acknowledge those days (even more basic would be the correct number of days) and if they elect to honor those days, would these followers honor the correct days.

Since neither Yah or Yahshua dictated for his people to honor the day of Yahshua’s resurrection then acknowledgement is all that is needed.

One way to identify the people of Yah and Yahshua is to observe those who acknowledge correct day of the Messiah’s death and resurrection.

Yahshua died on the first day of the Feast of Unleaven Bread (the day following Passover, the 15th day of the 1st month) and was resurrected on the day of Firstfruits of Barley (the first day after the Sabbath following Passover).  In the year of Yahshua’s death and resurrection there was 3 days and 3 nights from the 15th to the Firstfruits.  This varies each year.  See the articles “First Day of the Week” and “Easter, Passover & Sabbath” for more explanations of these.

So, at the risk of oversimplifying, your God is the one whom you know and honor his name, and crucial times, specifically Sabbaths..

Who is Your God?

Take a look at Exodus 31:13-17, Ezekiel 20:12, Ezekiel 20:19-20 and Hebrews 4:9 for a guide to who claims "I AM" as their God.

Exodus 31:13-17 (en# 2) tell us that the keeping of the Sabbath is a sign between you (and your descendents) so you will know He is your God who sanctifies you.  Sanctify means to set apart and for a special purpose.

Did you understand that?  The 7th day Sabbath is something you perpetually keep (observe and honor) as a sign between you and your God.  This is for you and your descendents for a never ending time.

Ezekiel 20:12 (en# 3) reiterates the nature of the 7th day Sabbath and the meaning of keeping it.

Ezekiel 20:19-20 (en# 4) is continuing the message of the 7th day Sabbath being a sign between his people and himself.

Even the “new testament”, in Hebrews 4:9 (en# 5), affirms the keeping of the 7th day Sabbath.  It says the Sabbath remains for the people of Yah.

You are directed to another article call “Sabbath and Feast Days”, to learn that the command to observe the Sabbath is still in effect.

So, at the risk of oversimplifying, you are one of the people of Yah if you observe and honor the 7th day Sabbath.

Are You of His People?

How can you know if you are Yah’s people?

The question here is - are you his people.  I know you probably say you are “Christian” and that makes you one of Yah’s people.

If you are the people of "I AM", you show this by circumcision.  Genesis 17:13-14 indicates that those who are His people are circumcised and those who are not circumcised are cut off from His people, for breaking His covenant.

You can argue that circumcision is a forskin thing only or of the heart or whatever.  The certainty is that circumcision identifies you as a people of "I AM" (Israel).

Genesis 17:3 And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying,
4 As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations.
5 Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.
6 And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.
7 And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after
thee.
8 And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.
9 And God said unto Abraham, Thou shalt keep my covenant therefore, thou, and thy seed after thee in their generations.
10 This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised.
11 And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of the covenant betwixt me and you.
12 And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every man child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger,
which is not of thy seed.
13 He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money, must needs be circumcised: and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.
14 And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant.
15 And God said unto Abraham, As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be.

Who is He and Who are You

22     So, at least, if you acknowledge and observe the correct day of your Saviors day of death and resurrection, and if you observe and honor the 7th day Sabbath, you are can lean towards claiming Yah as your God and lean towards being seen by Yah as one of his people.

Matthew 12:25 And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city
26 And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?
27 And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? therefore they shall be your judges.
28 But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.
29 Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house.
30 He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.
31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.
32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.
33 Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit.
34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.
36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
38 Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee.
39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas:
40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
41 The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here.
42 The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here.
43 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.
44 Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.
45 Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.

Exodus 31:12 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
13 Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the LORD that doth sanctify you.
14 Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you: every one that defileth it shall surely be put to death: for whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people.
15 Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD: whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.
16 Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant.
17 It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.
18 And he gave unto Moses, when he had made an end of communing with him upon mount Sinai, two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God.

Ezekiel 20:10 Wherefore I caused them to go forth out of the land of Egypt, and brought them into the wilderness.
11 And I gave them my statutes, and shewed them my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them.
12 Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the LORD that sanctify them.
13 But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness: they walked not in my statutes, and they despised my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; and my sabbaths they greatly polluted: then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them in the wilderness, to consume them.

Ezekiel 20:17 Nevertheless mine eye spared them from destroying them, neither did I make an end of them in the wilderness.
18 But I said unto their children in the wilderness, Walk ye not in the statutes of your fathers, neither observe their judgments, nor defile yourselves with their idols:
19 I am the LORD your God; walk in my statutes, and keep my judgments, and do them;
20 And hallow my sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I am the LORD your God.
21 Notwithstanding the children rebelled against me: they walked not in my statutes, neither kept my judgments to do them, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; they polluted my sabbaths: then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the wilderness.
22 Nevertheless I withdrew mine hand, and wrought for my name's sake, that it should not be polluted in the sight of the heathen, in whose sight I brought them forth.

Hebrews 4:1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
3 For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
4 For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.
5 And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.
6 Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:
7 Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.
8 For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.
9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
