Mama Katano's Teriyaki Sauce

1	1/4 cup	Kikkoman soy sauce
2	2 tlbs	sugar
3	1 tsp	grated ginger
4	1	clove garlic - grated, mashed, or however you like it
5	1 tabls	Sake or Sherry (optional)

Directions

Take one pound of your favorite meat, and marinate it in this sauce for four hours. Or overnight if you like. I like to do chicken breast halves; or sirloin steak cut into thin strips and then skewered (after you are done marinating it of course). In a pinch, you can substitute powedered garlic for fresh.
