In another perfect illustration of why the U.S. tourist industry is in free fall, audio has emerged of a Canadian couple who were interrogated and arrested by immigration officials after they dared to inquire as to why they were being asked such pointless and invasive questions.

Attempting to enter the U.S. at the Niagara Falls border, the couple were asked where they were going, to which they responded the Niagara Falls shopping mall. When the immigration official bizarrely demanded to know what shops they were planning to visit, the situation quickly worsened.

After daring to ask why they were being bombarded with such ridiculous questions, they were told to exit their car and are taken inside for further interrogation by another official. When the Canadian man rhetorically asks, “what are you gonna do, shoot me” the officials claim he is threatening them before he is arrested.
Officials claim the man “assaulted” them because he backed away for a moment when being arrested. The officials claim that their victims are required to submit to whatever order they give no matter how ridiculous.

To underscore the ludicrous justifications officials use for harassing people, the officer claims he personally stops three terrorists a day entering the United States from Canada. One wonders whether he characterizes a “terrorist” as someone who doesn’t instantly obey his every inane command.

Despite his pleas, the man and his wife are thrown in jail, at which point the audio ends.

Let us not forget that the United States does not stand alone in employing semi-retarded jackbooted goons who specialize in harassing innocent people to enforce security at its borders.

I’m Arizona State Senator Sylvia Allen. I want to explain SB 1070 which I voted for and was just signed by Governor Jan Brewer.
Rancher Rob Krentz was murdered by the drug cartel on his ranch a month ago. I participated in a senate hearing two weeks ago on the border violence, here is just some of the highlights from those who testified.

The people who live within 60 to 80 miles of the Arizona/Mexico Border have for years been terrorized and have pleaded for help to stop the daily invasion of humans who cross their property . One Rancher testified that 300 to 1200 people a DAY come across his ranch vandalizing his property, stealing his vehicles and property, cutting down his fences, and leaving trash. In the last two years he has found 17 dead bodies and two Koran bibles.

Another rancher testified that daily drugs are brought across his ranch in a military operation. A point man with a machine gun goes in front, 1/2 mile behind are the guards fully armed, 1/2 mile behind them are the drugs, behind the drugs 1/2 mile are more guards. These people are violent and they will kill anyone who gets in the way. This was not the only rancher we heard that day that talked about the drug trains.

One man told of two illegal’s who came upon his property one shot in the back and the other in the arm by the drug runners who had forced them to carry the drugs and then shot them. Daily they listen to gun fire during the night it is not safe to leave his family alone on the ranch and they can’t leave the ranch for fear of nothing being left when they come back.

The border patrol is not on the border. They have set up 60 miles away with check points that do nothing to stop the invasion. They are not allowed to use force in stopping anyone who is entering. They run around chasing them, if they get their hands on them then they can take them back across the border.

Federal prisons have over 35% illegal’s and 20% of Arizona prisons are filled with illegal’s. In the last few years 80% of our law enforcement that have been killed or wounded have been by an illegal.

The majority of people coming now are people we need to be worried about. The ranchers told us that they have seen a change in the people coming they are not just those who are looking for work and a better life.

The Federal Government has refused for years to do anything to help the border states. We have been over run and once they are here we have the burden of funding state services that they use. Education cost have been over a billion dollars. The healthcare cost billions of dollars. Our State is broke, $3.5 billion deficit and we have many serious decisions to make. One is that we do not have the money to care for any who are not here legally. It has to stop.
The border can be secured. We have the technology we have the ability to stop this invasion. We must know who is coming and they must come in an organized manner legally so that we can assimilate them into our population and protect the sovereignty of our country. We are a nation of laws. We have a responsibility to protect our citizens and to protect the integrity of our country and the government which we live under.

I would give amnesty today to many, but here is the problem, we dare not do this until the Border is secure. It will do no good to forgive them because thousands will come behind them and we will be over run to the point that there will no longer be the United States of America but a North American Union of open borders. I ask you what form of government will we live under? How long will it be before we will be just like Mexico, Canada or any of the other Central American or South American countries? We have already lost our language, everything must be printed in Spanish also. We have already lost our history it is no longer taught in our schools. And we have lost our borders.

The leftist media has distorted what SB 1070 will do. It is not going to set up a Nazi Germany. Are you kidding. The ACLU and the leftist courts will do everything to protect those who are here illegally, but it was an effort to try and stop illegal’s from setting up businesses, and employment, and receiving state services and give the ability to local law enforcement when there is probable cause like a traffic stop to determine if they are here legally. Federal law is very clear if you are here on a visa you must have your papers on you at all times. That is the law. In Arizona all you need to show you are a legal citizen is a driver license, MVD identification card, Native American Card, or a Military ID. This is what you need to vote, get a hunting license, etc.. So nothing new has been added to this law. No one is going to be stopped walking down the street etc… The Socialist who are in power in DC are angry because we dare try and do something and that something the Socialist wants us to do is just let them come. They want the “Transformation” to continue.

Maybe it is too late to save America. Maybe we are not worthy of freedom anymore. But as an elected official I must try to do what I can to protect our Constitutional Republic. Living in America is not a right just because you can walk across the border. Being an American is a responsibility and it comes by respecting and upholding the Constitution the law of our land which says what you must do to be a citizen of this country. Freedom is not free.

The UnitedStates revealed for the first time Monday that it has a total of 5,113 nuclear warheads, an unprecedented move meant to bolster arms control efforts.

"It is in our national security interest to be as transparent as we can be about the nuclear program of the United States," Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said as the Pentagon unveiled figures long shrouded in secrecy.

"We think that builds confidence, brings more people to an understanding of what President (Barack) Obama and this administration are trying to do," she said at a conference in New York on the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

The symbolic step was timed to add momentum to the non-proliferation conference and comes after the United States and Russia agreed to new reductions in nuclear weapons.

Independent experts had already estimated the size of the US stockpile over the years, and arms control advocates had said keeping the numbers secret no longer made sense with the Cold War long over.

Clinton said there had been "numerous debates" inside the administration over whether to reveal the figures.

"As of September 30, 2009, the US stockpile of nuclear weapons consisted of 5,113 warheads," the Pentagon said in a statement.

The number included active warheads ready for deployment at short notice, as well as "inactive" warheads maintained at a depot in a "non-operational status," it said.

The figure represented an 84-percent reduction from the arsenal at its peak of 31,255 in 1967 during the Cold War, and a 75-percent reduction from late 1989 when theBerlin Wall fell.

The US government last disclosed details of the stockpile in 1993, releasing figures current up to only 1961.

Clinton said releasing the figures was not "in any way in opposition to our nuclear security" and that experts had already estimated the US stockpile.

A US defense official said the administration hoped more transparency from Washington would set a standard that would encourage countries to be more open.

"We hope that others will follow," the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told reporters.

"In particular we'd like to see more transparency from China. We have really quite little visibility into their programs and plans," the official said.

The numbers did not include warheads that are scheduled to be dismantled.

From 1994 to 2009, the United States dismantled 8,748 warheads but "several thousand additional nuclear weapons are currently retired and waiting dismantlement," the Pentagon said.

The US government planned to finish dismantling the weapons "in the early part of the next decade," said an official with the Energy Department.

The figures from the Pentagon appeared to confirm previous estimates from outside arms control experts, who had said the United States had about 9,000 nuclear weapons with 5,000 ready to be deployed.

Irans calls for deadline to scrap nuclear arms
United Nations (AFP) May 3, 2010 - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called Monday at a UN nuclear conference for an independent body to set a deadline for the elimination of all nuclear weapons. "The group should conduct its work with effective participation of all independent countries, by setting a deadline for complete elimination of all nuclear weapons, within a specified timetable," Ahmadinejad said.

Obama: nuclear holdout states face isolation
Washington (AFP) May 3, 2010 - US President Barack Obama warned as a major United Nations nuclear conference opened on Monday that nations that failed to forsake a nuclear arsenal were doomed to isolation. Obama issued a message to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) review conference in New York, saying that world powers could meet their responsibilities, or shirk them before the eyes of the world. "We will see whether nations without nuclear weapons will fulfill their obligation to forsake them," Obama said in the written statement. "History shows that nations that pursue this path find greater security and opportunity as an integrated member of the international community. "Nations that ignore their obligations find themselves less secure, less prosperous and more isolated. That is the choice nations must make."

Obama did not mention any nation by name, but he appeared to be referring to Iran, following a fiery speech in which Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad blasted Europe, Israel and the United States over nuclear weapons. "Over the coming weeks, we will see whether nations with nuclear weapons will fulfill their NPT obligations to move toward nuclear disarmament," Obama said. "Today, the eyes of the world are upon us. Over the coming weeks, each of our nations will have the opportunity to show where we stand. "Will we meet our responsibilities or shirk them? Will we ensure the rights of nations or undermine them? "In short, do we seek a 21st century of more nuclear weapons or a world without them?"

It would have been a serious mistake to have read the suspect in the attempted Times Square car bombing his Miranda rights, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said Tuesday.

McCain, the ranking member of the Senate Armed Services Committee and a longtime leading Republican on national security issues, said he expected the suspect in the case could face charges that might warrant a death sentence if convicted.

"Obviously that would be a serious mistake...at least until we find out as much information we have," McCain said during an appearance on "Imus in the Morning" when asked whether the suspect, 30-year-old Faisal Shahzad, a naturalized American citizen from Pakistan.

"Don't give this guy his Miranda rights until we find out what it's all about," McCain added during an appearance on the Imus show, which is broadcast by the Fox Business Network.

Republicans say that suspects like Abdulmutallab and potentially Shahzad should be classified as an "enemy combatant," which gives authorities more leeway in seeking intelligence through interrogation and other methods.

The Arizona Republican, however, said he expected the criminal justice system to play itself out in such a way that Shahzad would face the death penalty, if convicted.

"There's probably about 350 different charges he's guilty off -- attempted acts of terror against the united States, attempted murder," said McCain, cautioning that he's not privy to the charges with which Shahzad might be charged. "I'm sure there's a significant number to warrant the death penalty."

McCain said the treatment of the defendant in this case would serve as an example to would-be terrorists in the future.

The veteran senator also saved praise on law enforcement authorities in New York and in the federal government for their work in apprehending Shahzad, who was detained Monday night while trying to board a flight to Dubai, UAE.

Shahzad was detained just over 48 hours since the car bomb he was alleged to have planted in Times Square was discovered and disarmed. He's expected to appear to face charges Tuesday in federal court.

McCain said Shahzad's apprehension "gives you a little encouragement about the improvements we've made since 9/11."

Last month, so-called “birthers” got very excited over a clip in which Michelle Obama called Kenya President Obama’s “home country,” but a newly uncovered video is likely to stoke even more controversy, because in it the First Lady clearly states that Obama is “Kenyan”.

In a video of a 2008 speech that went viral last month after it was resurrected from the archives, Michelle Obama states, “When we took our trip to Africa and visited his home country in Kenya, we took a public HIV test.”

Some media pundits expressed doubt that the First Lady was explicitly saying that Obama had been born in Kenya, and Glenn Beck even implied that the release of the tape was a trick designed to push Tea Party members over the edge and incite violence, allowing Democrats to demonize their political opposition as extremists.

However, yet another clip has been uncovered from the archives in which the First Lady plainly states that Obama is “Kenyan,” leaving little open to speculation in terms of context.

During a December 2007 speech in Tampa Florida, Michelle Obama stated, “What it reminded me of was our trip to Africa, two years ago, and the level of excitement that we felt in that country – the hope that people saw just in the sheer presence of somebody like Barack Obama – a Kenyan, a black man, a man of great statesmanship who they believe could change the fate of the world.”

It would be quite a stretch to claim that Michelle Obama means anything other than that Obama was born in Kenya when she says that the President is “Kenyan”. When it comes to the term “home country,” there’s a little wiggle room, but saying that Obama is “a Kenyan” seems to be reasonably cut and dried.

This seems as straightforward as saying that Arnold Schwarzenegger is Austrian, because he was born in Austria. Of course, under the terms of Section 1 of Article Two of the United States Constitution, to be eligible to become President, an individual must be “a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States”. This prevents Schwarzenegger from ever becoming President, as it would make Obama’s presidency illegitimate if it was conclusively proven that he was born in Kenya.

We’ve largely sat on the fence regarding the whole “birther” issue, pointing out that there are legitimate arguments coming from both sides, but what’s not up for debate is the fact that Obama’s real name is Barry Soetoro, the name given to Obama at the time of his enrollment in an Indonesian elementary school.

Whatever the exact nature of the controversy, it seems inevitable that Obama is being blackmailed over his dubious origins, making it imperative that a proper investigation of the issue be conducted in the interests of both national security and the basic rule of law.

The Illinois General Assembly has passed HB 5832 a Bill that makes carrying a firearm in Illinois without a valid FOID card a mandatory 1-3 years in prison.

Under current law, carrying a weapon without a valid FOID card allowed for probation but once enacted the new law removes any and all chances of probation even for a first time offense. The Bill has yet to be signed by the Governor but it appears to be a done deal unless a grassroots effort is made to stop it.

HB5832 sounds like a strong tool to fight crime until you actually read the “Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon” Law in Illinois. Under section 24-1.6 the mere carrying of a firearm is considered an Aggravated offense. This includes carries on or about ones person or in any vehicle.

It is a victimless, damage-less, non-violent crime that will put a lot of Illinois gun owners in prison and may jeopardize over the road truckers and neighboring state friends for transporting their gun in violation of Illinois law, which in most states is only a ticketing offense.

The new law will add to the Illinois prison population thus incurring additional expense that the people of Illinois can not afford.

Currently the City of Chicago is being sued by residents wanting their second amendment right to be recognized. The case McDonald v. Chicago is before the Supreme Court with a decision expected to come later this summer.

Thanks to the new law if the Court does rule in favor of the people, gun ownership in Illinois will be with the expressed permission of the State.

Sadly I can’t find any evidence that the Illinois NRA affiliate ISRA tried to stop this bill. The bill wasn’t even listed on their legislative page.

The town of Concord has banned the sale of bottled drinking water in town beginning in 2011."We only have one planet and I just don't want to see it spoiled," said Jean Hill, who introduced the measure at Concord's Town Meeting.Hill said that New York, Illinois and Virginia, as well as more than 100 cities, have taken action to cut spending on bottled water.The measured passed by Concord would allow the sale of refillable containers of water, which could still be sold and delivered in town. Only plastic bottles that companies cannot reuse would be banned."Water is something we can get from the faucet. You can't turn your faucet on and get soda," said Selectwoman Virginia McIntyre, explaining why other plastic bottles would not be banned.

Supporters say the production of plastic water bottles uses 17 million barrels of oil each year. The beverage industry opposes the measure."If you think about the fact that our bottles are getting smaller and if you think about the fact that our bottles are going into the recycle bins in Concord, it's a crazy policy," said Ralph Crowley of Polar Beverages.The ban on plastic water bottle sales may be largely symbolic. Town officials aren't sure they have the power to enact the ban without approval from the state.
