First day of the week
1 An interesting note is that some say that the Sabbath is not carried forward from the time before Yahshua because of many reasons. One reason being that it is a topic of little discussion in the new text. If that argument is is given in merit, then it also should apply. There is no direct command, by Yahshua or the disciples, to observe Sunday in any way. There is no direct command to cease observing Sabbath. The new text references to “the first day of the week” is a reference to the day after the Sabbath following Passover or a particular day of THAT year. You can find more about the First Day of the Week by reading the paper of that name on this site.
2 Absent clear and direct edict for Sunday observance of anything, the case for Sunday observance instead of Sabbath, should be given no merit. Yet is is the Catholic church which has brought about this by their own self proclaimed authority. More on this later in this paper.
3 But the point being that there is no edict given by Yahshua or his disciples to treat Sunday as anything should be reason enough to discount Sunday as having any special purpose.

The New Covenant
5 OK, so you declare that this is old text stuff and does not apply after the arrival, life, death and resurrection of Yahshua, for we are now under a “new” covenant, and for some reason you hold that we are not under these things of the old testament. It is true that under the new covenant the things of the old testament will be in some way altered. Notice I said “WILL BE”. The new covenant has yet to arrive. What??? You mean to say you have been taught that we are already under the new covenant?
6 Take a look at these statistics. The phrase “new covenant” appears in the whole Scripture a whopping 4 times. Once, prior to Yahshua, and 3 times since. First, look at Hebrews 12:24 (en# 15) and notice a quaint often over looked statement. Yahshua is the MEDIATOR of the “new covenant”. Covenant is another word for contract. Once a contract is implemented, there is no longer any need for a mediator. We know that Yahshua is still with us in his teachings and in his preparation of a great mansion and again in his return. So long as Yahshua is involved, the covenant is not yet. It is still being mediated. You yourself have often argued in this favor. Sure you have. Have you not declared or parroted that “Jesus runs intercession for us”. Of course you refer to verses such as Romans 8:34 (en# 16) and Hebrews 7:22 (en# 17). To help explain these, we have Jeremiah 31:31-34 (en# 18) and Hebrews 8:10 (en# 19), which explain that the new covenant WILL BE with Israel and Judah, and the timing is such that Israel (the creator) will not remember our sins. This means a time WILL COME that Israel (the creator) will not remember our sins. Obviously, with Yahshua running intercession for us, we must still be sinning and Israel (the creator) must be remembering. Without remembrance, we would not need an intercessor. Therefore, this time yet to come will be when we no longer sin, and Israel (the creator) will not remember what we do not do.
7 First we must understand that “Israel” is the name of the whole clan of the descendents of Jacob, 12 tribes. God changed Jacob's name to Israel, naming Jacob after his own name "Israel". To learn more about the names of God check the paper entitled What is in a Name available from this site and/or the same source as this paper. From this one man came the nation (family) of Israel. Israel (Jacob) had twelve sons: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Dan, Naphtali, Gad, Asher, Issachar, Zebulun, Joseph and Benjamin. From the descendants of these twelve sons of Israel came the twelve tribes of Israel. The new covenant it is referring a time after Solomon died when the family of Israel split into two regions whereby the Northern 10 tribes of became called Israel and the Southern 2 tribes became called Judah. In the Northern group, they adopted the family name and in the Southern group, they adopted the name of their dominate tribe. It makes sense if you have studied the history of when the house of Israel split.
8 After the death of David's son Solomon (en# 37), the Israelites split into two kingdoms. Judah and Benjamin formed the Southern kingdom of "Judah" which was the name of the dominant family of that group. Their capital was at Jerusalem. The other ten tribes formed the Northern kingdom of "Israel" which was the family name. Their capital at Samaria. From time to time Judah and Israel actually fought wars against each other! Reahboam was the son of Solomon who was the son of David from Bathsheba (en# 38). He made bad decisions on taxes and 10 of the tribes broke away and Jeroboam (brother of Reahboam) became their leader (en# 39).
9 For many years, Israel (the people) disobeyed and fornicated with other gods. This happened several ways. Generally, they would adopt and follow the ways and customs of the peoples they conquered, and this included those gods. As a punishment, Israel (the creator) allowed the Northern ten tribes (called Israel) to be taken captive by Assyria around the year 712 BC. At this same time, Assyria also took captive about 80% of the nation of Judah. These captured people effectively disappeared from history and became known as the "Lost Ten Tribes" of Israel, as they forgot their heritage. Many millions of their descendants exist today in many parts of the world, but very few have any idea of their origin. Despite their various modern-day political "nationalities," they are however, as far as the Bible is concerned, still Israelites. The knowledge of who they are is vital to the understanding of prophecy! Many times, especially from Kings and Chronicles forward, when you read “Gentile”, sometimes you can substitute it as other peoples/nations or “Lost Ten Tribes of Israel”. Most often Israel was to be found in the population of Gentiles. In other words, not all Gentiles are Israel.
10 Around 585 BC, the remaining 20% of the nation of Judah (mainly the city of Jerusalem) was taken captive by the Babylonians under King Nebechnedzer. Some of the captives were allowed to return to Jerusalem after about 70 years in captivity. Then in about 30 A.D. the Romans conquered them and finally in about 150 A.D. the Romans rid the remainder of the house of Israel (primarily the tribes of Judah and Benjamin) from the land till this day.
11 The Southern kingdom of Judah was also conquered and transported away, by the Babylonians, about two centuries after the northern kingdom. However, after the Babylonians were themselves conquered by the Persians, the tribes of Judah and Benjamin (from whence “Jews” is derived) were allowed to return to Jerusalem where they were again conquered in turn by the Greeks and Romans. In about 30 A.D. the Romans invaded and conquered them and finally in about 150 A.D. after the Jews tried to stake claim to the land, the Romans rid the remainder of the house of Israel (primarily the tribes of Judah and Benjamin) from the land till this day. The Jews (the people of the Southern land of Judah) must be in existence to this present day (otherwise they could not be part of a latter day covenant with Israel (the creator)).
12 To be clear on this, for the purposes of most Scriptural references, the word “Israel” has 2 meanings regarding a people. It can mean the whole house of Israel, the sons of Jacob. It can mean the Northern division of the house, as distinguished from the Southern division call Judea. Generally, the Northern division is the portion which has become known as the “lost tribes of Israel” or the “10 lost tribes”. Both the whole of the descendents of Jacob and the Northern tribes are Israel, but they are not synonomous. This would be like Bob having children and they are called the house of Bob. One of Bob’s children is named after the father and also called Bob. The son Bob is part of the house of Bob, but the 2 Bobs are not the same. Obviously, for the purpose of the new covenant, Israel refers to the portion of the HOUSE of Israel that is not Judah. While “house of Israel” refers to all of Israel, including Judah.
13 Now you can understand what is meant in Jeremiah and Hebrews about a new covenant with Israel and Judah. Are you aware of any people claiming to be Jew, Judah or the like being in contract (covenant) with anyone else being called Israelite, and that this contract is with Yah? Are you aware of any people claiming to be Israelite, or any of the tribes of Israel being in contract with anyone else being called Judah (Jew), and that this contract is with Yah? Absent these, the new covenant is not yet in effect. You know this must be so, because it is certain that if Israel (the creator) made a covenant with someone, that someone would know it.
14 The 37th chapter of Ezekiel especially around verse 19 (en# 35) is another example of a prophesy regarding the reuniting of Israel and Judah.
15 In regards to the new covenant, we are to understand that Judah and Israel will be REUNITED. Both factions of the house of Israel (Juda and Israel) will be joined in covenant with Israel (the creator). Do the “Jews” of today lay assent to being joined with anyone, in the name of Israel (the creator)? No. Does anyone lay assent to being joined with the “Jews” of today? No. So how can the new covenant be in effect yet? Are we in the Kingdom yet? NO.
16 In Jeremiah, we are also told that in the time of the new covenant, he will not remember our sins. Since Israel (the creator) remembers everything, it makes sense that the reason he does not remember sins is because we do not commit any sins, for him to remember. You know you are a sinner and have even admitted so. Therefore, you are not yet in the Kingdom or under the new convenant – yet. When we enter the Kingdom of God/Heaven we will then have the new covenant.
17 Now you can no longer say that the old text stuff does not apply because we are under a new covenant, because we do NOT have a new covenant. Hence, if the premise for not observing the Sabbaths and Feast Days is because we have a new covenant, then you can no longer say so. This “New Covenant” is simply the marriage covenant of the Bride and the Lamb, referred to in many instances in the Bible. This covenant ended when Israel (the creator) divorced Israel (the people) (Jeremiah 3:8 en# 40). Unless you claim that Yahshua has returned and married the bride, then the new covenant is not yet.
18 Observing the “appointed times of Israel (the creator)", help us to be prepared for most any event of Scriptural nature. This includes the return of Yahshua.
What are the Sabbaths and Feast Days?
19 That is a good question. It should have been you who asked it. FEASTS ARE APPOINTED TIMES FOR MEETING WITH ISRAEL (the creator) Feasts is merely a word used to mean “appointed meeting”. Your Father has established a time and means for meeting with him and do you think you should meet with him? You should.
20 This is one of those topics whose explanation can go for a LONG time. The answers are overwhelming, convincing and unquestionable. Only the stubborn, obstinate, and ungodly would dare argue against the word of Israel (the creator) on this matter. The Sabbath is a declared day of “holy convocation”. Without belaboring the matter, it is a day for resting from the toils of your regular work and instead using the time to sojourn with your Father - Israel (the creator). He asked to visit with you on that day and waits for you. Will you honor your Father and visit with him on the day he requested?
21 There are basically two Sabbaths. The weekly Sabbath distinguished as being “THE” Sabbath. Then there are the Sabbath days which are associated with certain Feast Days. The day before annual (high) Sabbaths is known as preparation day.
22 Leviticus 23, Numbers 28, Deuteronomy 16 and a few others tell of the Feasts and how to implement and observe them. You can find writings on them in the index of this site or available from this site and/or the same source as this paper. Most notably are Passover, Feast of Unleavened Bread, Firstfruits of barley (also know as wave sheaf), Firstfruits of wheat (also known as Pentecost), Feast of Trumpets, Feast of Tabernacles and Day of Atonement.
23 The Feast Days are days of observance for which you will be punished for not keeping. This does not mean a direct punishment, but rather indirect, as in you will not be where you ought be at the time you ought be there. Then you will miss rewards, like the foolish virgins. They are events for teaching and understanding. If you do not keep them you will not have knowledge and understanding which Israel (the creator) makes available to you. It seems that everything Israel (the creator) does is on a High (Feast) day. An example is that Yahshua was born during the Feast of Tabernacles and died during the Passover. All indicators say Yahshua will return during the Feast of Trumpets. But this is discernable by studying, honoring and keeping the Feast Days
24 Now you are saying, we can not know that because Yahshua said no one knows the hour or day of his coming and of course you are referring to Matthew 25:13. But it does not deny us knowing the season or year. Curious, huh?
25 Also, keeping the Feast Days and Sabbaths helps develop discipline and dedication, in the name of Israel (the creator)
Why be a Sunday Keeper?
26 It is curious that so many people fervently resist Sabbath and Feasts Days observance. There seems no reason for it. For some, they proclaim that it does not matter which day we observe as Sabbath, then why do they resist observing the correct day? For that matter, why do they set aside Sunday?
27 Moreover, even if modern Sunday worshippers were observing the proper day, they seem to think that 1, 2 3, or 4 hours on Sunday is enough and that the rest of the Sunday should be business-as-usual (emphasis on business). Keeping and/or observing the day that Israel (the creator), your father, asked to meet with you is more than lip service, yet all he seems to get from modern “Christians” is lip service - without the service.
28 Ask yourself some questions. Who has the authority to alter Yah’s law? Who has the authority to abolish Yah’s commandments? If you are wise you will correctly answer “nobody”.
29 The early followers of Yahshua did not confuse Sunday with the Hebrew Sabbath, and they made no attempt to apply Sabbath legislation to Sunday. These early followers of Yahshua did not observe Sunday as a day of rest. Around the 4th century anno domini (A.D.), when Emperor Constantine designated Sunday as a holy day, supplanting Sabbath keeping, for the entire Roman Empire. It was not until the 4th century that Sunday began to take on Sabbath characteristics, when the Council of Nicea in 325 AD decided that all the churches should make certain changes. Some of those changes were observing a man made holiday of Easter rather than God made Holy Day of Passover, Sunday as holy day rather than Sabbath and several other things. Constantine was Emperor and made these announcement to all his kingdom. Hence certain type of work should not be done on Sunday. This Sabbatarian tendency continued over the several centuries until the Catholic decretals of Gregory IX (A.D. 1234) officially mandated Sunday rest.
30 The Catholic Church does not consider the Bible its sole authority, and many Catholics and the church leadership freely admit that the only authority for "Sunday keeping" today is the authority of the Catholic Church. There are two other "authorities" accepted by the Catholic Church other than the Bible. They are the "Tradition of the fathers," and the Pope, himself, when speaking from the "Holy See." This is self righteous and presumes that the Catholic church has authority to alter and/or abolish the edicts of Israel (the creator).
"The Catholic Church for over one thousand years before the existence of a Protestant, by virtue of her divine mission, changed the day from Saturday to Sunday." Catholic Mirror, Sept. 1893 "Of course the Catholic Church claims that the change was her act. And the act is a mark of her ecclesiastical power and authority in religious matters." C.P.Thomas, Chancellor under Cardinal Gibbons.31 Yahshua had something to say about things like the Catholic church making these changes and keeping them as a matter of “tradition”. The Pharisees confronted Yahshua in the matter of keeping traditions of man. In Matthew 15:1-10 (en# 9.2) it seems clear that Yahshua cares nothing for keeping traditions of man, especially if they conflict with Scriptural commandments. So where does the Catholic church get off thinking they may be pharisaical and defy Yahshua and get away with it? If Yahshua is not a liar, then the Catholic can not get away with it – in the eternal soul sense."If Protestants would follow the Bible, they should worship God on the Sabbath Day. In keeping the Sunday they are following a law of the Catholic Church," (Albert Smith, Chancellor of the Archdiocese of Baltimore replying for the Cardinal in a letter dated February 10, 1920)
"The Catholic Church of its own infallible authority created Sunday a holy day to take the place of the Sabbath of the old law," (Kansas City Catholic, February 9, 1893)
32 Why mention the Catholic church at all in this matter? Because the PROTESTANT churches (and others) all follow the traditions of the Catholic church with whom they allegedly protested and from which they departed for alleged wrong teaching. Hence, any “church” which practices Sunday observance over Sabbath, is practicing a “tradition” of the Catholics rather than Yah’s commandment. How Godly are they? Are they Israel’s (the creator) people?
33 Many who resist, argue they do not have to keep the Sabbath and Feast Days as they are not important as paths to salvation. Others are simply unaware that they are ignorant and blindly follow some glitzy business leader (commonly called a priest, preacher, minister, pastor, or such). This is not a condemnation (although it ought to be), but rather a statement of fact. Most people simply parrot things they have heard, especially if it tickles their ears.
34 It seems that people would rather go-along-to-get-along than do the right thing. This is evident in many aspects of society. It tickles your ears (2 Timothy 4:3) to be part of some charismatic leader and be praised by your friends who are ignorant of (or resist) Sabbath and Feasts Days observance. You would rather be part of the crowd than do what is Right. You would rather follow a multitude to do what is wrong, yet Israel (the creator) told us not to do like this. (Exodus 23:2) (en# 8).
35 There is nothing new under the sun (or Son), for 2 Timothy 4:1-5 (en# 7) tells us the sheep will flock to deceivers, men (and women) who proclaim to know the truth of Israel (the creator) and do not reveal it to the sheep. Why? Because YOU do not want to endure sound doctrine, a teaching that might mean YOU have to put out an effort. Instead, YOU prefer a doctrine that tickles your ears, that is pleasing to YOUR comfort, even in light of evidence of such belief, or action, being false.
36 Keeping the Sabbath and Feast Days are not, of themselves, a path to salvation. But they are for our training and benefit. They are paths and processes for guiding and teaching us. If we keep and understand the Sabbaths and Feast Days, we do not find as much mystery in the prophecies. In the way that a fireman regularly trains to prepare them how to recognize situations and how to act and react in given situations, keeping the Sabbath and Feast Days is a training that prepares us how to recognize situations and how to act and react in given situations, especially things of prophecy in old and new text.
37 We tend to observe holidays of our making and do not honor the Holy Days our Father prescribed. We tend to define Israel's (the creator) commandments in ways different than what Israel (the creator) wants. This issue was brought before Yahshua in Matthew 15:1-10 (en# 9.1). The religious leaders of the day saw Yahshua not keeping their traditions of man, yet keeping some other conduct. Yahshua gave them cause to pause by asking them why their traditions violate Israel's (the creator) commandments. WOW – take that!
38 A common misconception is that Sabbath and Feast Days are only for the Jews. Israel (the creator) gave the Law, Commandments, Sabbath, Feast Days first to the Hebrews, which descended through Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, to become Israel. Israel had 12 sons, and ONLY ONE of them is Juda. It is from Juda that ultimately the name “Jew” is derived. Therefore, it is grossly wrong to say that some things “are Jewish”, or “for the Jew”, when it is correct to say they “are Israel”, or “for Israelites” (different from Israelis – which is a people of the 20th century who are not God's people). Hence, the Sabbaths and Feasts Days are for Israel's (the creator) people – Israel (the people), past, present and future. Since only Israel (the people) can inherit the Kingdom of God/Heaven, then those who inherit the Kingdom are keeping the Sabbaths and Feast Days. When Yahshua returns he will be looking for his people. His people are the ones he will gather as they meet him in the air (1 Thessalonians 4:17) (en# 14).
39 Israel (the creator) says that keeping the Sabbaths and Feast Days is a sign between himself and his people - Israel (the people), throughout Israel’s (the people) generations. (Exodus 31:13) (en# 10) Israel (the creator) repeats this many times, but almost immediately in verse 16 and 17, he says that Israel (the people) shall keep the Sabbath and the keeping thereof is a sign between him and his people, Israel (the people), as a “perpetual” covenant, “always”. You should note here that Israel (the creator) did not say something like “till the coming of my son”, he said “forever”, through ALL our generations. What is the significance of keeping the Sabbath? One significance is told in verse 13, that we may know that “I am” is the LORD who sanctifies us. It seems that a reason for keeping the Sabbaths is so we will know Israel (the creator) You say you already know him and his alter ego Yahshua. Of course you do. You also know George Washington, Neil Armstrong and many others. But you will not really know them till you study, and know rather intimately, all their writings, speeches, commentaries, and what others of their time wrote and said about them. If you mis-quote these people whom you say you know, then do you truly know them? The message from Israel (the creator) here is that if we religiously observe the Sabbath, we will use the day to study on Israel's (the creator) word and messages, without distraction from normal work.
Scriptural References
40 In referring to the first Passover, Israel (the creator) tells us in Exodus 12:11-20 (en# 11) that we shall be required to celebrate this Feast and gives us instructions on how to do it, but in verse 14 he clearly says it shall be required “forever”.
41 Then regarding the Feast of Tabernacles, Israel (the creator) tells us a similar command.in Leviticus 23:41 (en# 12), that we shall celebrate this Feast “forever”. But Israel (the creator) made a connection to the Sabbath in verse 38 by declaring that the Feasts are in ADDITION to the Sabbath.
42 Again, in 2 Chronicles 1:4 (en#13) we are told that the Sabbaths, New Moons (which help us keep time and identify the Feast Days), and Feasts are ordinances “forever” to Israel. Remember, this is not to "jews", but to all of the house of Israel.
So What?
43 The Sabbath and Feast Days are not to control us, but rather to train us. If you study the Feast Days and are familiar with them, then you might be prepared when the time comes to fulfill a prophecy. Prior to the birth of Yahshua, the Feast of Passover included shedding of blood for sins. It was not the shedding of the blood that was important, but the worthiness of the person(s) making the offering. Two examples readily show this. First is Yahshua. It was not his death that was of any merit, but that HE was worthy. Being that he was worthy, then his offering was acceptable. The same is true with Cain and Able. Cain’s offering was not acceptable. But is was not the offering itself that was not acceptable. It was Cain who was not worthy. It would not matter what or how much Cain offered, it would not have been acceptable. Note the distinction here. The person making the offer is defined by WORTH and the object of the offering is defined by ACCECPTABILITY. They are not the same. Many people confuse them and treat them as synonymous. They are not. Your worthiness determined the accaptability of your offering.
44 The practice of the offering and shedding of blood for sins were rehearsals for the ultimate sacrifice. We were supposed to be practicing so we would recognize the genuine article. But Scripture tells that the very people who should have recognized the Messiah, did not. They were caught in the letter of law, traditions of man, and missing the purpose for it. It should be noted that a key feature of old text and new text teachings is that the very people who should have recognized the Messiah (the priestly & learned types), did not, while the ones who had not the knowledge and practice by which to recognize the Messiah (the commoners and Gentiles), DID recognize him. You see, prior to the birth of Yahshua, the 12 tribes of Israel were divided and 10 or so of them were scattered and lost their way, meaning they forgot their heritage and purpose in this world. They are commonly referred to as the Gentiles. This is the reason for Yahshua and his disciples going to the Gentiles. They were preaching to Israel, or at least a big part of it. Check the opening verses of James.
45 After the time of Yahshua’s rising he was visiting with his seven disciples and THREE times Yahshua asks Peter if Peter loves him (John 21:14) (en# 20). Each of the three times Peter passionately and positively says “Yahshua knows” it is so. Yahshua in each of these three times tells Peter to “feed my flock (sheep)”. Clearly, Yahshua was saying that if Peter loves Yahshua that Peter should feed (preach to) the sheep of Yahshua. Peter and the other disciples went and preached to the Gentiles and Jews. The Gentiles and Jews are Israel's (the creator) sheep - Israel's (the creator) people.
46 The message was to the Jew and Gentile, as were the rewards and awards, as was death and eternal life. This is because the Gentiles and the Jews comprised the “House of Israel”. This relationship with Jew and Gentile (Israel) is throughout Scripture (old and new texts). An example is in Romans 2:5 (en# 21). It is probably safe to say that a reason for Romans saying “Jew first” is because they had not forgotten who they were, while the Gentiles had, for a time, forgotten their heritage.
47 To argue that any of Israel's (the creator) commandments are ended or no longer apply is contradictory of Scripture, such as Psalms 119:142 & 172 (en# 22). If you follow the little circle that this very special chapter of Psalms paints, you learn that Israel's (the creator) commandments are perpetual.
Should We Still
be Observing Them?
(with examples
of New Text proof)
48 With words like “throughout their generations” and “perpetual” and “forever”, this should not require much explanation. But, there are those who argue that the law is abolished (which is not so). Yet they simultaneously say the 10 Commandments are still in force – except the 4th one. Then there are some who declare we do not have to observe the 10 Commandments. Is that not hypocritical? Before you answer look at Exodus 31:16 (en# 23)
49 Most religious groups today have long abandoned holy days commanded by Israel (the creator) in favor of corrupt manmade holidays. But, Israel's (the creator) Holy Days, commanded and kept first in the Old Text and perpetuated in the New, were never abolished by the Father or His Son. They are as vital to salvation as they ever were – and you need to understand why.
50 For the most part, the Feast Days of the Lord were, and are, regimens to prepare us for the coming of prophesied events, in part so we would recognize them. An example of this is that we are told that Yahshua will return during the sounding of a trumpet. Israel (the creator) instructed us to observe the Feast of Trumpets. Is there any idea when He will return – maybe during the week of the Feast of Trumpets? When the Spirit has come upon you, it is possible to know the season of His return (Acts 1:7-8) (en# 1).
51 The birth of Yahshua was in the season we in the Gregorian calendar call late September, early October. This is found from knowing it is the 15th to 22nd day (1 week) of the Seventh month of the Hebrew calendar (this is shown in Scripture, but too long for this paper, please see the paper entitled Birth of Yahshua available from this site and/or the same source as this paper). Joseph and Mary took temporary dwellings at the time of Yahshua’s birth. Tabernacles means temporary dwelling. The Feast of Tabernacles is a time for taking temporary dwelling. This is an example of how observing the Feast Days can help discern the meanings of Scripture. Understanding can help make you fell less pensive about the future. You may not like what will happen, but at least you will understand. On the other hand, you may look forward to what is coming.
52 Let us not forget that Yahshua himself declared that he did not abolish the law (Matthew 5:17) (en# 2.1), and he said that not one Jot or Tittle should "pass from the law until all be fulfilled (come to pass)." (Matthew 5:18) (en# 2.2). Has everything come to pass? NO. Then NOTHING in his law has been removed.
53 Regarding the Holy Day of Passover, Paul told the Corinthians to keep the Feast of Unleaven Bread (which follows Passover). Admittedly, there is a substitution of the lamb with something new, BUT, we are to still keep the Feast (1 Corinthians 5:8) (en# 3).
54 Today, at the end of the age, the prophecy of Revelation 12:17 (en# 4) can be fulfilled and shows that the beast will be against the people of Israel (the creator), who keep the law AND message of Yahshua.
55 Scriptures of our Lord are meant for his people and not for others. A people (individually and collectively) are his people by blood and by adoption (grafting). Even if you are to think you are not of his people and want to be, you merely have to obey his Word and you can be adopted. This is all said because many will say the Sabbath and Feasts are only for the Jews (when they may mean Israelites, although some might mean Israelies). You may be a descendent of any of the houses of Israel (by blood) or you may be one of the adopted. The houses of Israel includes 12 families. But Israel (the creator), Yahshua and the prophets all say “His people”, and if you want to be part of His people, then the Sabbaths and Feasts are for you to keep. Remember, all of Israel (the people) are His People, whether by blood or by grafting (adoption). The Kingdom is for all who seek the Kingdom (Galatians 3:26-29) (en# 5).
56 Paul having spent 1.5 years in Corinth finally leaves and goes to Ephesus. While there, Paul was implored to stay longer and he said he must leave to observe the Feast (Acts 18:20-21) (en# 6). Yahshua had a custom of going to synagogue on the Sabbath (Luke 4:14) (en# 24). Paul’s manner was to observe the Sabbath and while in Thessalonica he observed three consecutive Sabbaths before he had to leave (Acts 17:1) (en# 25). In each of these examples, Yahshua and Paul observing Sabbath and preaching in the synagogue on that day, was THEIR custom and manner. If they were trying to appease the congregation (Gentiles and others), then surely they would have attended synagogue as was the manner of the congregation. If Yahshua and Paul wanted to set an example of some new rule or practice, then they would have observed the new dedicated day(s) and the peoples would have flocked to them on those new days. But, Yahshua and Paul both continued to keep the Sabbath as was THEIR custom and manner. Paul did not teach on Sabbath because it was the manner or nature of the congregations, but because it was Paul’s manner or nature, in keeping with the teachings of Yahshua. Surely, if Paul had a new message he would tell it. Paul told so very much. Paul, who had the new message of Israel (the creator), did not observe any day as reverent other than Sabbath. This does not mean that Paul did not teach on other days, for surely any day is good for convocation (Acts 17:17). But with all the understanding Paul had, and with every time he chastised a people, he never once “corrected” them on the day of observance.
57 If Paul was teaching the new message, and if the new message included a new day of “something”, then surely Paul would have been observing the new day and teaching about it. This would be a beacon to the newcomers. Yet, we have the Gentiles (people of other nations/beliefs) coming to Paul and pleading for him to preach to them the next Sabbath (Acts 13:42-44) (en# 30).
58 Paul, was in synagogue on Sabbath, and got fed up with the Jews AND Greeks for not listening. Then Paul went into a man’s home next door to the synagogue, and worshipped there. Paul did not go far from the place of general worship, but still he did this on Sabbath (Acts 18:4-8) (en# 31).
59 What is missing in all these teachings of Paul and the other disciples when they go on SABBATH to teach, is a message that the SABBATH is the wrong day. Not one verse indicates that the venerable Paul told anyone that even though he came to them on SABBATH, that it was not the correct day for doing so. Surely, if this very important day of Israel (the creator) was to be abolished and/or replaced with another day, would not Paul have said something about it? After all, Paul wrote about a great many topics and issues, of personal and societal natures. Where is the edict that the SABBATH is no longer observed and that any other day is to be observed?
60 But, let us consider the more obvious. The people closest to Yahshua, such as his mother, his brother James, Joseph of Arimathae, his Disciples and many more, were at the scene of the killing of Yahshua. They, more than anyone did know, or should have known, the teachings and message of Yahshua. Hence, if Yahshua intended the abolition of the weekly Sabbbath and Holy Days (Feast Days), then surely this people would know it and be practicing such. But, we all know that these people closest to Yahshua pleaded to get the body of Yahshua from the stake prior to the annual Sabbath known as Passover. In that way, they would not be doing any work on the Sabbath, then a couple days later, the women after buying oils, herbs and such for announting Yahshua's body, again made ready for observing the weekly Sabbath (for more on these days you can read the paper entitled Easter, Passover & Sabbath available from this site and/or the same source as this paper. If the message of Yahshua, including his death, signified the end of these observances, then why were his closest followers and family still observing them in the days just after his death?
"The" Sabbath
61 Notice that it is "the" Sabbath which Israel (the people) was told to to observe. It was not "a" Sabbath.
62 It might be an argument that if we go back in time far enough, we might not be able to find continuity. It might be said that we can not prove there were no breaks in calendar. Some might use this position to say we do not know which day of the week was the 7th day during the "old testament" times, therefore, we can not know what day it is in our time. This is a specious argument.
63 We only need go back about 2000 years and we do have a continuity of calendar back that far.
64 There have been changes in calendar keeping in the past 2000 years, such as when converting from Julian to Gregorian.
Gregory XIII, 1502-85, pope (1572-85), an Italian named Ugo Buoncompagni, best known for the reformed, or Gregorian, Calendar. He was prominent at the Council of Trent (1545, 1559-63). As pope he proposed the deposition of Queen Elizabeth I of England and took an interest in the education of the clergy and the conversion of Protestants. He issued a new edition of the canon law and patronized the Jesuits. [The Concise Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia Copyright© 1994]65 The Gregorian Calendar is a revision of the Julian Calendar which was instituted in a papal bull by Pope Gregory XIII in 1582. The reason for the calendar change was to correct for drift in the dates of signifigant religious observations (primarily Easter), which are seasonal and to prevent further drift in the dates.

67 All moveable feasts in the Catholic church calendar relate to Easter. In turn, tradition related Easter to the Jewish festival of Passover, which in turn was related to the spring equinox, the phase of the moon and the celebration of the Sabbath. Over the centuries, by following the Julian calendar, the Easter festival was slowly but surely moving away from the spring equinox towards the summer solstice. The new system adopted by Pope Gregory in the 16th century, specified a calendar with a year length of 365 days, 5 hours, 40 minutes, 20 seconds. Therefore 3 days had to be dropped every 400 years. So those years which were divisible by 100 would only be leap years if they were divisible by 400. To correct errors which had built up over centuries, Pope Gregory declared that Thursday 4th October 1582 in the Julian Calendar should be immediately followed by Friday 15th October in the Gregorian Calendar.-- Drop 10 days from October 1582, to realign the Vernal Equinox with March 21

68 Adoption of the new calendar
was essentially immediate within Catholic countries. In the Protestant
countries, where papal authority was neither recognized not appreciated,
adoption came more slowly. England finally adopted the new calendar
in 1752, with eleven days removed from September. The additional day came
because the old and new calendars disagreed on whether 1700 was a leap
year, so the Julian calendar had to be adjusted by one more day.

69 The Gregorian year length gives an error of one day in approximately 3,225 years.
70 These changes did not alter the days of the week. This is significant for identifiying "the" Sabbath. You will recall that Paul and Yahshua both had a custom of keeping and observing "the" Sabbath. The Julian calendar was in use in their days. When the calendar was converted to Gregorian, Sunday (by what ever name) still preceded Monday (by what ever name), which still preceded Tuesday (by what ever name), and so forth. The numbers of the days of certain months were altered, but not the continuity of the days of the week.
71 To understand this, consider leap years. If February 28 is a Monday, then February 29 is a Tuesday and March 1 is a Wednesday. In the non-leap years, February 28 is a Monday, then March 1 is a Tuesday. this is also true for any other month, with the last hight number day ceasing and the new 1st day starting, all the while the days of the week continue. We add and subtract days, but the continuity of the days of the week remain un-altered.
72 All this is important because Paul and Yashua both had the custom of observing the 7th day Sabbath. The days of the week have not changed since their time and the 7th day is still the 7th day. The 7th day is closely similar to the pagan day Saturday. The only difference is that the days of Israel (the creator) begin and end at sundown. So, "the" Sabbath begins at sundown at the beginning of night on the pagan day Friday and ends at sundown at the beginning of night on the pagan day Saturday - just as in the days of Paul and Yahshua.
Why the warning & the Declaration?
73 If Sabbath was not to be observed in the times after Yahshua’s life, then why warn that we should pray that the tribulation of the end times does not visit on Sabbath? (Matthew 24:20) (en# 32) If we do not have to keep the Sabbath, then why be concerned if we are caught in tribulation on Sabbath?
74 Then Yahshua seals the matter. Yahshua, speaking on what is permitted on Sabbath and what is not permitted, declares that he is the Lord of the Sabbath (Matthew 6:5) (en# 33). Why would he want to be Lord of something which does not exist or is abolished? If there is not to be any Sabbath obervance, why would he declare to be its Lord?

75 Many say the law was done away with Yahshua, but in Matthew 5:17 (en# 2.3) Yahshua said he did not come to abolish the law. That is non-arguable. Yahshua further said that no thing in Scripture would pass till all is fulfilled (Matthew 5:18) (en# 2.4). Is everything fulfilled? NO!
“Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.”76 Yahshua warns against those teaching contrary (Matthew 5:18) (en# 2.5). Yahshua said that those who break even the least of the commandments or teaches so, he shall be called the least in the Kingdom. Yahshua tells of praise for those who keep even the least of the commandments. Yahshua helps to clarify this by saying we should exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees. We should still follow the law and embrace the messages of Yahshua. It is not an either/or question, but rather a both/neither question.
77 What is confusing to many people is the 635 some odd "laws" of the Jews. When you include the Tulmad (the oracles of the Sanhendrin) then you have many "statutes" being included as "Law". The word for "oracles" is the Greek logion, which means literally, "sayings". Israel (and then the Jews) retained an oral law besides the written law we find in the Bible. The oral law included many things that helped explain the Law of Israel (the creator)
78 Israel had basically 2 sets of law. There was the written law, which Israel (the creator) gave to the people. Then there was the oral law. The oral law, also known as oracles, are spoken things. The oracles were determine by the Sanhedrin as interpretations of the law to help make the law applicable with the life of the times. The oracles were passed from generation to generation. Then with the world turning to the message of Yahshua, the Jews committed the oral law to writing. This is what is today known as the Talmud. This was actually an error in judgment by the Jews, if for no other reason than because it locked them into what was now written and could not make adjustments as time and conditions might require. Paul refers to the oracles (Romans 3:2) and they are indicative of messages from Israel (the creator) that were not otherwise written, as were the Ten Commandments. This leads us to realize that there are some things of law that are not written yet still of great importance.
79 At the risk of over simplifying the matter and possibly omiting a few significant laws, we are to keep the Appointments of Israel (the creator), the Sabbath, the food restrictions (if they were unclean for our bodies then, what makes our bodies different today?) and such. But the many oracles of the Sanhedrin are not necessarily what is meant by keeping the commandments of Israel (the creator) to show you Love him.
80 So any doctrine to the contrary must be wrong. It is interesting at this time to note another thing Yahshua said. In Matthew 10:33 (en# 28) and Luke 12:51 (en# 29), he said that he came not to bring peace but a sword or division. He said his intent is to set people against each other. It may be argued that such strife would separate the wheat from the chaff. But to claim he wants peace is not entirely true. It might be that those following false doctrines will be pitted against those following the will of Israel (the creator), even if they be fathers, mothers, daughters and other people close to you.
81 In reality, the matter is simple and easy, but a resistant soul and/or person will make any excuse and imagine anything to hold to their illusions which are comfortable.
82 It should bother you that you choose to make your own holidays (holy days) which are not even mentioned in Scripture and celebrate them, but you will resist celebrating the Holy Days which your Father set for you and your benefit. Israel (the creator) hates and despises your holidays (Amos 5:21) (en# 26) and will not accept them (smell in the Hebrew “ruwach” means “accept” – Strongs # 2131). Israel (the creator) will not visit YOUR holidays.
83 The feasts of Israel (the creator) hold the key to understanding the plan of salvation. Are you observing them? If not, begin right now and receive His blessings that are in store for you!
84 The Feast of Tabernacles is a most important commemoration. Zechariah 14:16,17 tells us that one day all nations (including those who come against Jerusalem (Jerusalem means teaching or place of peace)) will be required by law to honor this feast. For what greater reason than it is the birthday of the King of Kings! It also is reprsetative of the 100 years of peace being a tabernacle.
85 Isaiah 66:23 (en# 34) tells us that there will be a time when "all flesh" (this means every body) will observe the Sabbaths and new moons.
86 With the Feast of Tabernacles and the Sabbaths foretold to be observed in the future, does it make any sense to believe that they are abolished for this time? In other words, we were to observe them from the beginning till Yahshua's death, then not observe them till the millenial reign, then observe them again thereafter? Is there any reason to believe a period of abatement is justified? NO!
87 If you say you love Israel (the creator) then you will keep his commandments. If you keep his commandments you will abide in Yahshua’s love. You love him, you keep his law, which holds you in his love.
If ye love me, keep my commandments. John 14:1588 Much more can be said, and shown, and has by several people, but the conclusion is the same.If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. John 15:10
89 Yahshua expressed much disdained for those who teach wrongly. In Matthew 23:27 (en# 27) he expressed sorrow (woe) for them and describes suffering for them. You do not have to follow false doctrine. You can follow Scripture.
90 Each day of the week has a name which men have given them. Israel (the creator) only numbered the days and called the 7th the Sabbath, which is not its name but its description. Here is a list of the days and the names man gave them with origins.

is the day of the “sun"
in honor of the ancient pagan god “Sun”.
Monday
is the day of the moon
in honor of the ancient pagan god “Moon”.
Tuesday
is the day of “Theus” or
“Tiu” in honor of the ancient pagan Nordic god.

the day of “Thor”, a pagan deity.
Friday
is the day of “Freia” or “Frigg”,
a pagan goddess.
Saturday is
the day of “Saturn” having no
relationship to the word "Sabbath".
91 Do you praise Sun or Son on Sunday? Do you have any other gods before Israel (the creator) ? Have you ever thought about the pagan holiday Easter and what modern churches call “sunrise service”? SUNrise? Why not SONrise? Do you need any more reason to follow the true message of Israel (the creator)?
Sanctify means "set apart" (for a special reason)
92 The Sabbath is a special day, set apart from all other days. Deuteronomy 5:12 (en# 36) clearly tells us to sanctify the Sabbath.

knows that Sunday was the resurrection day. The Sabbath was past when it
dawned. Thus it is evident that the Sabbath is Saturday, the day before

didn't you abolish the law which contains the Sabbath commandment?
A. "Think
not that I am come to destroy the law or the prophets: I am not come to
destroy, but to fulfill." Matthew 5:17

least, didn't you change one of the commandments so that today your followers
may keep another day than the seventh day?
A. "For verily
I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or tittle shall in
no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled." Matthew 5:18
Q. But, Lord,
isn't Saturday a Jewish day? Isn't the seventh day the Sabbath of the Jews?
A. "The Sabbath
was made for man." Mark 2:27 (The Sabbath was made and given to man 1500
years before the existence of a “Jew”. See Genesis 2:1-3)
Q. Someone
told me that after Your crucifixion, Lord, your followers no longer kept
the seventh-day Sabbath according to the commandment. Is this true?
A. "And that
day was the Preparation day and the Sabbath drew on. And the women also,
which came with Him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the Sepulchre,
and how His body was laid. And they returned and prepared spices and ointments;
and rested the Sabbath day according to the commandment." Luke 23:54-56
Q. But didn't
the apostle Paul always meet with the early Christians on Sunday in honor
of the resurrection? What was his manner in regard to a day of worship?
A. "And Paul,
as his manner was, went in unto them, and three Sabbath days reasoned with
them out of the Scriptures." Acts 17:2
Q. Did he meet
with the Gentile converts on the Sabbath, too? Perhaps he met with the
Jews on the Sabbath and the Greeks on Sunday. What about that?
A. "And he
reasoned in the synagogue every Sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the
Greeks." Acts 18:4

Paul teach in regard to Sabbath keeping?
A. "There
therefore remaineth a keeping of the Sabbath (margin) to the people of
God. For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his
own works as God did from His." Hebrews 4:9,10

day did Paul mean when he spoke of resting as God did?
A. "For He
spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, 'And God did
rest the seventh day from all His works'" Hebrews 4:4

then, your instruction in regard to Sabbath keeping?

have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God." Acts 20:27
(In the New Testament there are no less than 59 references to the Sabbath.
The book of Acts records 84 Sabbaths on which the Apostle Paul and his
associates held religious services. Yet there is not one word in the entire
Bible authorizing Sunday keeping.)
Q. Then why
is it so many people keep Sunday instead of Saturday? If the Bible teaches
Sabbath keeping, how and by whom was Sunday keeping introduced into Christianity?
A. "And he
(the 'little horn' power) shall speak great words against the Most High,...and
think to change times and laws." Daniel 7:25

Catholic Church is the little horn of Daniel 7; Do you mean that it should
think to change the law of God?
A. "Ask now
the priests concerning the law." Haggai 2:11

not such power, she could not have done that in which all modern religionists
agree with her; she could not have substituted the observance of Sunday,

day of the week, a change for which there is no Scriptural authority."

Baptist: "There was and is a commandment to keep holy the Sabbath day, but that Sabbath day was not Sunday. It will be said, however, and with some show of triumph, that the Sabbath was transferred from the seventh to the first day of the week...Where can the record of such a transfer be found? Not in the New Testament - absolutely not...Of course, I quite well know that Sunday did not come into use in early Christian history...But what a pity that it comes branded with the mark of paganism, and christened with the name of the sun god, when adopted and sanctioned by the Papal apostasy, and bequeathed as a sacred legacy to Protestantism." - Dr. E.T Hiscox, author of the Baptist Manual.

does it make which day I keep? A day is a day isn't it?
A. "Know ye
not that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye
are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

shall I do, obey the Sabbath of God's commandment or keep the Sunday of
man?

vain they do worship Me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men."

the millions of people who keep Sunday can't be wrong, can they?
A. "Enter
ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate and broad is the way that
leadeth to destruction and many there be which go in thereat: because strait
is the gate and narrow is the way that leadeth unto life, and few there
be that find it." Matthew 7:13,14 (Only a few obeyed God in the days of
Noah, in the days of Lot, in the days of Christ. The majority were lost.)

So-and-so is a very wise man: Why doesn't he and all the great preachers
keep the Sabbath?
A. "For ye
see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh,
not many mighty, not many noble, are called; but God hath chosen the foolish
things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak
things of the world to confound the things which are mighty." 1 Corinthians
1:26,27. (Note: The great religious teachers in Christ's day rejected the
truth also. His followers were of the common people.)
Q. But I have
accepted Jesus; I know He is my Saviour; I know He has accepted me and
I have been keeping Sunday. Surely I would not be lost if I did not keep
the Sabbath now, would I?
A. "A time
of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men everywhere
to repent." Acts 17:30

Lord. You wouldn't condemn me for breaking the Sabbath, would you?
A. "He that
saith, I know Him, and keepeth not His commandments, is a liar, and the

it sufficient that I love the Lord and live by the law of love?

think that if we try to follow Jesus, that is all that is necessary. Isn't

Q. But, Lord, that was over 1900 years ago. Wouldn't you keep some other day than Saturday if you should come to earth today?

salvation depend upon my obedience to this Sabbath injunction?
A. "And being
made perfect, He became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that

it would be absolutely necessary to keep the commandments to receive eternal

can't see why You insist on the seventh day, Lord. Isn't Sunday as good
as Saturday?
A. "God blessed
the seventh day and sanctified it." Genesis 2:3 "He hath blessed and I
cannot reverse it." Numbers 23:20. "For Thou blessest, O Lord, and it shall
be blessed for ever." 1 Chronicles 17:27

seems to me that if I keep one day in seven, regardless of which one, that
ought to be good enough.
A. "There
is a way that seemeth right unto a man; but the end thereof are the ways

the Sabbath is right; but my business would suffer if I closed on Sabbath.

shall it profit a man if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own

for me to work on the Sabbath than to let my family starve?

Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things; but seek ye first

will laugh at me and ridicule me.
A. "Blessed
are ye, when men shall revile you,...and shall say all manner of evil against

my own family does not agree with me. Should I go against their wishes,
which would mean in some cases a division in the home?
A. "He that
loveth father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me: And he that loveth
son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me: And he that taketh not
his cross, and followeth after Me is not worthy of Me." Matthew 10: 37,38.
"So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath,
he cannot be My disciple." Luke 14:33

I won't be able to withstand all these trials. I am too weak.
A. "My grace
is sufficient for thee: for My strength is made perfect in weakness....When

proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: who, speaking to them, persuaded
them to continue in the grace of God.

Italy, with his wife Priscilla; (because that Claudius had commanded all
Jews to depart from Rome:) and came unto them.

And because he was of the same craft, he abode with them, and wrought:
for by their occupation they were tentmakers.

And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews
and the Greeks.

And when Silas and Timotheus were come from Macedonia, Paul was pressed
in the spirit, and testified to the Jews that Jesus was Christ.

And when they opposed themselves, and blasphemed, he shook his raiment,
and said unto them, Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean: from
henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles.

And he departed thence, and entered into a certain man's house, named Justus,
one that worshipped God, whose house joined hard to the synagogue.

And Crispus, the chief ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with
all his house; and many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were baptized.

you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not

of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.

many.

For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and
there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

All these are the beginning of sorrows.

Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and
ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.

And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall
hate one another.

And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a
witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by
Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:
17
Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of
his house:
18
Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.
19
And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those
days!
20
But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath
day:
21
For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning
of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
22
And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved:
but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.
23
Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe
it not.
24
For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew
great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall
deceive the very elect.

of Israel from among the heathen, whither they be gone, and will gather
them on every side, and bring them into their own land:

And I will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of Israel;
and one king shall be king to them all: and they shall be no more two nations,
neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all:

Neither shall they defile themselves any more with their idols, nor with
their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions: but I will
save them out of all their dwellingplaces, wherein they have sinned, and
will cleanse them: so shall they be my people, and I will be their God.

And David my servant shall be king over them; and they all shall have one
shepherd: they shall also walk in my judgments, and observe my statutes,
and do them.

And they shall dwell in the land that I have given unto Jacob my servant,
wherein your fathers have dwelt; and they shall dwell therein, even they,
and their children, and their children's children for ever: and my servant
David shall be their prince for ever.

Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting
covenant with them: and I will place them, and multiply them, and will
set my sanctuary in the midst of them for evermore.

My tabernacle also shall be with them: yea, I will be their God, and they
shall be my people.

And the heathen shall know that I the LORD do sanctify Israel, when my
sanctuary shall be in the midst of them for evermore.

Jeremiah 3:1 They say, If a man put away his wife, and
she go from him, and become another man's, shall he return unto her again?
shall not that land be greatly polluted? but thou hast played the harlot
with many lovers; yet return again to me, saith the LORD.
2 Lift up thine eyes unto the high places, and
see where thou hast not been lien with. In the ways hast thou sat for them,
as the Arabian in the wilderness; and thou hast polluted the land with
thy whoredoms and with thy wickedness.

6 The LORD said also unto me in the days of Josiah
the king, Hast thou seen that which backsliding Israel hath done? she is
gone up upon every high mountain and under every green tree, and there
hath played the harlot.
7 And I said after she had done all these things,
Turn thou unto me. But she returned not. And her treacherous sister Judah
saw it.
8 And I saw, when for all the causes whereby
backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her
a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but
went and played the harlot also.
9 And it came to pass through the lightness of
her whoredom, that she defiled the land, and committed adultery with stones
and with stocks.
10 And yet for all this her treacherous sister
Judah hath not turned unto me with her whole heart, but feignedly, saith
the LORD.
11 And the LORD said unto me, The backsliding Israel
hath justified herself more than treacherous Judah.
12 Go and proclaim these words toward the north,
and say, Return, thou backsliding Israel, saith the LORD; and I will not
cause mine anger to fall upon you: for I am merciful, saith the LORD, and
I will not keep anger for ever.
13 Only acknowledge thine iniquity, that thou hast
transgressed against the LORD thy God, and hast scattered thy ways to the
strangers under every green tree, and ye have not obeyed my voice, saith
the LORD.
14 Turn, O backsliding children, saith the LORD;
for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of
a family, and I will bring you to Zion:
15 And I will give you pastors according to mine
heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.
16 And it shall come to pass, when ye be multiplied
and increased in the land, in those days, saith the LORD, they shall say
no more, The ark of the covenant of the LORD: neither shall it come to
mind: neither shall they remember it; neither shall they visit it; neither
shall that be done any more.
17 At that time they shall call Jerusalem the throne
of the LORD; and all the nations shall be gathered unto it, to the name
of the LORD, to Jerusalem: neither shall they walk any more after the imagination
of their evil heart.
18 In those days the house of Judah shall walk
with the house of Israel, and they shall come together out
of the land of the north to the land that I have given
for an inheritance unto your fathers. 19 But I said, How shall I put thee
among the children, and give thee a pleasant land, a goodly heritage of
the hosts of nations? and I said, Thou shalt call me, My father; and shalt
not turn away from me.
20 Surely as a wife treacherously departeth from
her husband, so have ye dealt treacherously with me, O house of Israel,
saith the LORD.
21 A voice was heard upon the high places, weeping
and supplications of the children of Israel: for they have perverted their
way, and they have forgotten the LORD their God.
22 Return, ye backsliding children, and I will
heal your backslidings. Behold, we come unto thee; for thou art the LORD
our God.
23 Truly in vain is salvation hoped for from the
hills, and from the multitude of mountains: truly in the LORD our God is
the salvation of Israel.
24 For shame hath devoured the labour of our fathers
from our youth; their flocks and their herds, their sons and their daughters.
25 We lie down in our shame, and our confusion
covereth us: for we have sinned against the LORD our God, we and our fathers,
from our youth even unto this day, and have not obeyed the voice of the
LORD our God.
